Job description

CAZ was founded in 2001 with the backing of some of the most respected and successful families in the state of Texas. Since our inception, we have focused our efforts on finding excellent opportunities to invest our personal money and then providing the ability for our global network of investors to co-invest with us. We exist to provide Exclusive Access to Unique Alternatives.

We recently grew our ownership consortium to include several veterans in financial services as well as the world’s leading life and business strategist, Tony Robbins. Robbins was thrice named to the WORTH 100 most influential people in the world of global finance. His two financial books, Money: Master the Game and Unshakeable, were both #1 New York Times Bestsellers. Robbin's latest book, The Holy Grail of Investing, co-authored with our Chairman and CIO, Christopher Zook, recently became a #1 New York Times Bestseller as well. Robbins’ private financial events often feature speakers like Paul Tudor Jones, Ray Dalio, Jeff Gundlach, Hank Paulson, Alan Greenspan, and others.

We are quite different than the vast majority of other investment management companies in multiple ways. First, we always invest our personal capital alongside our Investors. We have more than $650mm of our personal capital committed to our investment vehicles. We provide access to our Investors to co-invest with us in these vehicles, which we believe provide the best opportunities for our families’ and our Shareholders money. Second, because of the scale of our investments, we have access to opportunities that would otherwise not be available to investors with less than $250mm - $500mm of investable assets. Quite simply, there are many investments we can provide for our Investors they could never access on their own. Third, and what we believe is the most unique feature of our Firm, almost all of our compensation is earned only if an investor makes money. In many cases, if our Investors do not make money, we don’t get paid. This ultimate alignment of interests is why we focus on finding the absolute best risk/reward opportunities available.

The Associate, Portfolio Management & Operations, is responsible for ensuring investment opportunities are successfully onboarded and monitored. In this role, you will collaborate with both the due diligence and portfolio management Teams to successfully document, track, and monitor new investment vehicles, contributing to the Firm's overall success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Document and process new investment opportunities
  • Communicate with external managers and other members of the Investment Management Team to monitor investments both qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Assist the Portfolio Management Team in monitoring and tracking investments and portfolios
  • Maintain high quality data across the full range of investment systems
  • Provide updates and transparency across investments and portfolios to enable the Portfolio Management Team to make effective decisions
Success as an Associate, Portfolio Management & Operations will be measured by your:
  • Processing documentation on new investments with strong attention to detail and speed
  • Maintenance of high-quality data across all the Firm’s investments
  • Effective monitoring of investments and portfolio management tools across the organization
  • Ability to manage and process a wide array of priorities concurrently with excellence
  • Proficiency in working within and across Teams to bring success to all members of the Firm
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline required.
  • Demonstrated audit experience with a Big Four accounting firm or in the financial services sector is required.
  • 3-5 years of investment industry experience is preferred, with a strong emphasis on operations-related duties
  • Exceptional organizational and written communication skills with exacting attention to detail
  • Strong array of financial knowledge; understanding of accounting and financial valuation is a plus
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with other data analytics software platforms a plus (including DealCloud and/or Caissa)
  • Knowledge of various tax structures is a plus
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize quantitative modeling techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines
  • Selfless Team player with a strong work ethic
  • Financial Instrument Knowledge: Knows the basic mechanics of common instruments, including equities, debt, fund structures, options, and derivatives, at survey level; can explain how cash flows move and where economics accrue.
  • Process Orientation: Detail-oriented in execution; uses checklists, follows process, escalates exceptions cleanly; does not take shortcuts that introduce risk; their work does not need to be re-checked.
  • Relationship Building: Known across the firm for collaboration, reliability, and good judgment; professional and well-prepared in every external interaction, with excellent CRM hygiene and consistent follow-up.
  • Leadership Influence: Leads through example and contribution; people enjoy working with them; pulls others up rather than competing for credit; respected by peers across the team.
  • Investment Acumen: Begins forming views on opportunities, not just analyzing them; distinguishes signal from noise in the data; does not anchor on the first answer; willing to disagree with senior team members from evidence.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Base salary will be commensurate with experience
  • Bonus opportunities will be tied to effectiveness, measured by a periodic goal-setting process, with the amount of opportunity depending on value-added to the organization and Firm profitability
  • Participation in our matching 401k plan
  • We offer a generous PTO plan, along with an excellent benefits portfolio
