Job summary

Obra Capital in New York is seeking a Vice President of Fund Accounting to lead the books and records of funds under US GAAP. This role collaborates with Operations, Investor Relations, Tax, Legal and Compliance and oversees coordination with a third-party fund administrator.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in fund accounting, a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, and CPA is preferred. Proficiency in Enfusion and Sage Intacct and advanced Excel skills are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee NAV finalization, P/L reconciliation and investor allocations; coordinate with fund administrator
  • Review and reconcile management and carried interest fees
  • Review capital calls and distributions allocations
  • Approve client capital account statements generated by third party administrators
  • Prepare quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements per US GAAP; coordinate with external auditors
  • Prepare monthly attribution performance reporting to senior management
  • Prepare monthly fund forecasts and NAV performance estimates
  • Prepare inputs for annual regulatory reporting and client reporting
  • Liaise with Operations, Investor Relations, Management Reporting, Tax, and Legal & Compliance
  • Prepare and review expense allocations and budgets; manage vendor payments
  • Review fund legal documents and streamline processes
  • Engage in special projects and firm initiatives

Job description

Position Overview

Obra Capital is seeking a Vice President, Fund Accounting to join our team in our New York office. The Vice President, Fund Accounting will be responsible with the maintenance of the books and records of funds in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The role will work and collaborate with various departments within the firm, including Operations, Investor Relations, Management Reporting, Tax, and Legal and Compliance. The role will also coordinate and manage the funds’ external third-party fund administrator.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee funds’ NAV finalization process, including P&L reconciliation and allocation to investors, for open-ended and/or closed-ended private fund structures; investigate and resolve discrepancies with third party fund administrator and internal teams
  • Review and reconcile the calculation and payment of management and carried interest and/or incentive fees in accordance with the funds’ governing documents
  • Review capital calls and distributions allocations and notifications
  • Approve client capital account statements generated by third party administrators
  • Prepare quarterly unaudited financial statements and annual audited financial statements in accordance to U.S. GAAP and coordinate with external auditors for the year-end audit process
  • Prepare monthly attribution performance reporting to senior management
  • Prepare and review monthly fund forecasts, NAV performance estimates, and other ad-hoc requests/projects
  • Prepare inputs for annual regulatory reporting, investor letters, custom client reporting, and firm level reporting
  • Liaise with various internal teams including Operations, Investor Relations, Management Reporting, Tax, and Legal and Compliance
  • Prepare and review expense allocations, operating expense budgets, and vendor expense payments
  • Review fund legal documents and continue to streamline or build processes and templates
  • Engage in special projects and involve in firm strategic initiatives; assist with the creation and implementation of procedures, workflows, and controls
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or above) in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant fund accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience with Credit is a plus.
  • Enfusion and Sage Intacct experience a plus.
  • Possess strong work ethic and positive team player attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail / accuracy and analytic skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Compensation

The expected base salary range for this role is outlined below. In addition to the base salary, total compensation may include a discretionary bonus based on performance. This range reflects a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, education, and other qualifications pertinent to the position.

$130,000-$150,000

The firm also offers robust Benefits offerings which include Comprehensive Medical/Rx, Dental and Vision plans; 401(k) program with company match; Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA); Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSA) with company contribution; Basic and Voluntary Life Insurance; Long-Term Disability (LTD) and Short-Term Disability (STD) insurance; and Commuter Benefits plan for parking and transit. In addition all employees of Obra are provided with a daily lunch stipend.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this role is outlined below. In addition to the base salary, total compensation may include a discretionary bonus based on performance. This range given is a best faith estimate which reflects a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, education, location and other qualifications pertinent to the position. Base salary does not include any other performance based compensation such as year end cash bonus.
