Job description

Vice President, Finance and Accounting (Restaurant - Private Equity Backed)

*Please note that this opportunity requires full-time, in-office presence in New York City. Relocation assistance for hired candidate will be considered.*

Our client, a leading private equity investor, has retained us to identify a Finance and Accounting leader for an existing portfolio company in the hospitality industry. The hired individual will be a member of the executive leadership team, responsible for creating and maintaining a robust culture of financial control and reporting. This critical role will partner with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, private equity investor and relevant external parties to ensure profitability at both the corporate and store unit levels, driving value and achieving operational excellence in support of company objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting functions for the business
  • Oversee accounting and internal controls, ensuring adherence to US GAAP compliance
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity at the corporate and unit levels
  • Manage strong working relationships with lenders, external audit partners, technology partners and other third-party vendors
  • Develop robust KPIs and dashboards for use at both the corporate and unit levels, using timely, accurate data to drive decision making
  • Lead the review of relevant data in providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and profitability
  • Collaborate with leadership on the modeling of “what if” scenarios
  • Assess and recommend system/technology solutions for utilization within the accounting, finance, and reporting functions
  • Supervision of Controller and related functions (payroll, accounts payable/receivable etc.)
  • Support of the expansion of a brand through a franchise model preferred, to include: Financial modeling in support of stores; Franchise unit performance measurement; Partnering with Franchise Development to tailor appropriate fees, incentives and other unit level financial matters

Desired Requirements for Consideration:

  • 10+ years of experience in a finance and accounting leadership role(s) within the restaurant category
  • Extensive value creation/finance leadership experience supporting a restaurant business backed by private equity
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement best in class accounting and finance policies, procedures and systems
  • Knowledge of key finance performance metrics and a track record of introducing impactful KPIs to a restaurant business
  • Ability to design, implement and communicate robust financial reports
  • Experience assessing/implementing/utilizing ERP and point-of-sale technologies
  • Ability to lead and flourish in a data-intensive environment, using data to drive key decision making across financial and operational functions; Relevant experience collaborating with operations, sales and marketing leadership
  • Experience supporting the development of franchised locations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA and/or CPA designation preferred

*This role requires full-time, in-office leadership presence.*

Compensation range, consisting of base salary and discretionary bonus, is expected to be in the $240K-$275K range and commensurate with desired experience. Additional equity participation opportunity is expected.
