Job summary

Banner University Medical Group in partnership with the University of Arizona is seeking an experienced pathologist to serve as Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Medical Director of Laboratories at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson.

This 1.0 FTE leadership position provides strategic oversight of laboratory operations while maintaining an active clinical practice and holding a UA College of Medicine faculty appointment at Associate

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent clinical doctoral degree.
• Board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Arizona.
• Leadership experience in clinical laboratory operations (e.g., Medical Director, Associate Medical Director).
• Experience in quality, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical and strategic leadership for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology laboratory operations.
• Serve as Laboratory Medical Director and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, CMS, and applicable standards.
• Oversee quality assurance, proficiency testing, test validation, utilization, and PI initiatives.
• Collaborate with hospital and system leadership on laboratory strategy and priorities.
• Serve as physician liaison between laboratory services, medical staff, and leadership.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and development of faculty and staff.
