Banner University Medical Group in Tucson, AZ, invites an experienced pathologist to serve as Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Medical Director of Laboratories at Banner University Medical Center Tucson. This 1.0 FTE leadership role includes strategic oversight and maintaining an active clinical practice.

The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson as Associate Professor or Professor,

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent clinical doctoral degree.
• Board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Arizona.
• Leadership experience in clinical laboratory operations (Medical Director, etc.).
• Experience in laboratory oversight, clinical care, quality, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary leadership.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical and strategic leadership for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology laboratory operations.
• Serve as Laboratory Medical Director and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, CMS, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Oversee quality assurance, proficiency testing, test validation, utilization, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with hospital and system leadership on laboratory strategy, service expansion, technology, and operational priorities.
• Serve as a physician liaison between laboratory services, medical staff, and hospital/system leadership.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and development of pathology faculty and staff.
• Maintain an active clinical practice in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology and participate in call.
• Participate in education, mentorship, and scholarly activities within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
