Banner University Medical Group in Tucson, AZ seeks a Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This 1.0 FTE leadership role combines strategic oversight of laboratory operations with an active clinical practice, reporting to the Department Chair and partnering with hospital leadership.

The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson at Associate Professor or Professor rank, and will guide quality,

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree.
• Board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Arizona.
• Leadership experience in clinical laboratory operations (Medical Director, etc.).
• Experience in oversight, quality, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary leadership.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical and strategic leadership for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology laboratory operations.
• Serve as Laboratory Medical Director and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, CMS, and applicable standards.
• Oversee QA, proficiency testing, test validation, utilization and performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with hospital and system leadership on strategy, service expansion, technology and priorities.
• Serve as a physician liaison between laboratory services, medical staff and leadership.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and development of pathology faculty and staff.
• Maintain an active clinical practice in pathology and participate in call.
• Engage in education, mentorship and scholarly activities within the department.
