Job summary

100Hires, Inc. is seeking a Variable Frequency Drive Field Service Specialist to service VFDs in the NY/NJ area.

You’ll start up, troubleshoot, commission, and validate the operation of multiple VFD brands in the field, and respond to breakdowns with on-site repairs. This role demands 5+ years of hands-on VFD experience, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders, and strong reading of electrical/mechanical drawings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience servicing Variable Frequency Drives across multiple manufacturers.
• Valid driver’s license; able to lift 50 lbs and work at heights/on ladders.
• Solid command of three-phase motors and control circuits.
• Fluent in reading electrical/mechanical drawings, safety rules, O&M manuals, and written instructions—including P&IDs, fabrication drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Skilled in installing and troubleshooting heating and cooling systems.
• OSHA 30 and SST certifications.
• Capable of preparing clear inspection and appraisal reports.
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills; confident written and verbal communication.
• Mechanical assembly and troubleshooting proficiency; basic computer literacy.
• Experience programming, calibrating, and configuring 4–20 mA & 0–10 Vdc devices.
• Self-directed with exceptional independence in the field.

Responsibilities

• Start up, troubleshoot, commission, and validate the operation of multiple VFD brands in the field.
• Respond to breakdowns, perform on-site repairs, and carry out preventive maintenance.
• Work closely with leadership to support an efficient service department—contributing to productive staffing, stronger customer retention, cost controls, and achievement of team goals.
• Build trusted relationships that lead to repeat and referral business.
• Deliver high-caliber repairs that minimize callbacks.
• Keep customers and management continuously informed on job status, risks, and resolutions.
• Present documented options for additional services and upgrades in line with company protocols.
• Model safe behaviors at all times and maintain situational awareness for personal and team safety.
