Job summary

VetEvolve is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for Woodlake Animal Hospital in Midlothian, Virginia. You will assist veterinarians, monitor anesthesia, perform lab tests, and educate clients to support compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensed/Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician credential required.
• Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, radiology, and dentistry.
• Basic computer literacy and practice management software experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with teamwork.
• Professionalism, composure, and sound judgment in high‑stress situations.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital setting.
• Compassionate, client-focused care and patient safety.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle animals up to 150 pounds.
• Comfort with flexible scheduling and hospital duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to hospitalized patients, including IV catheter placement, CRI management, medication administration, feeding tube placement, and monitoring.
• Prepare, monitor, and recover patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Assist veterinarians during exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries.
• Perform laboratory diagnostics and document results.
• Operate and maintain radiology and ultrasound equipment per safety standards.
• Administer medications and vaccines per hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate controlled drug logs and proper storage of substances.
• Record treatment plans and update medical records accurately.
• Support hospital operations with chart auditing and charge entry.
• Educate clients on preventative care and treatment plans.
• Maintain clean, stocked treatment and surgical areas; ensure sterile conditions.
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies.
• Promote professional teamwork across departments.
