Job summary

VetEvolve’s Bay Beach Veterinary Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Practice Manager to lead daily operations, drive exceptional patient care, client service, and financial performance.

You will oversee hospital operations, staffing, scheduling, inventory, and regulatory compliance, while fostering a positive, high-performing culture in alignment with VetEvolve’s values. Strong leadership, communication, and veterinary operations knowledge required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership experience in a veterinary environment.
• Demonstrated success managing teams, driving operational performance, and improving client satisfaction.
• Strong understanding of veterinary practice operations, financial drivers (P&L management, budgeting, KPI tracking), and compliance requirements.
• CVPM designation preferred, or willingness to pursue certification.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals up to 130 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Own hospital-level results across revenue, labor management, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
• Manage all aspects of hospital operations to ensure smooth, efficient care and service.
• Oversee payroll hours, attendance, and timely submission for processing.
• Monitor payroll costs and compare to budget, identifying efficiency opportunities.
• Coordinate accounts payable with the bookkeeper and vendor communications.
• Lead proactive inventory management and price verification.
• Develop staff and doctor schedules to balance patient flow and workload.
• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and evaluate team members across departments.
• Foster a positive, engaged culture aligned with VetEvolve’s mission and values.
• Collaborate with Regional Manager to execute regional initiatives and goals.
• Ensure front-of-house and treatment areas deliver a seamless client/patient experience.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and safety/licensing standards.
• Review performance metrics with Regional Manager and implement corrective actions.
• Organize community events to strengthen client relationships and local presence.
