Position: Veterinary Technician in our Surgery department.

Work Schedule: Full-Time

Pay Range (APCA I/VTIII): $23.20 - $43.70/hour

*This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment.

Shift Differentials: Earn more with our shift differentials!

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $4.00
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.50

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and values.
• Utilize your ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams, accurately monitoring heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert the veterinarian to abnormalities.
• Set up and administer intravenous fluids, including subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate and troubleshoot all brands of intravenous fluid pumps.
• Disconnect and connect patients to intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
