As a Banfield Georgia Registered/Licensed Veterinary Technician, you will work alongside pet health care industry experts to make a difference in the lives of the pets and clients we serve. Compensation
For a limited time, a sign‑on bonus may be offered to a Veterinary Technician Shift Lead (RVT) at the Cornelius location (5118: 19819 N Cove Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031).
The anticipated starting hourly rate is $23.48 to $33.84 per hour, reflecting a general hiring range for the area. The specific rate and sign‑on bonus will be determined based on experience, skill level, education, and applicable wage laws.
Responsibilities
- Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, and pet health needs.
- Route the flow of clients and pets to ensure superior client care and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team.
- Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times, including welcoming clients and pets, ensuring comfort, educating clients about pet health, preparing or performing procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets.
- Perform veterinary technician appointments under the direction and supervision of a veterinarian and in compliance with state law after approval.
- Assist incoming clients by completing required documentation, entering pet information and history, using proper collars and tags, and ensuring prompt service.
- Assist outgoing clients by providing necessary instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescription items per veterinarian instructions, selling retail products, and scheduling future appointments.
- Manage finances by maintaining accurate balances and following proper opening and closing procedures.
- Act as the extra eyes, ears, and hands for the veterinarian, ensuring quality pet care, maximizing veterinarian productivity, and communicating with other associates to maintain patient flow.
- Obtain relevant client and medical information, maintain complete medical charts, and ensure safety of pets, clients, and associates.
- Assist with surgery as applicable, train and mentor new paraprofessional associates, quality‑check medical records, home medication orders, regulatory documents, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing exam‑room patients.
- Utilize technical skills within state practice acts regarding credentialed veterinary technicians and conduct administrative functions as necessary.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist the Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive hospital team to provide the highest quality care and service, following Banfield protocols and all applicable laws.
- Support hospital labor management and participate in selection, training, and day‑to‑day supervision of the paraprofessional team.
- Create an environment where the team delivers quality, efficient, and effective veterinary care.
- Facilitate effective communication between associates, clients, hospital leadership, and Central Team Support.
- Ensure all hospital associates adhere to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
- Prepare the team on scheduled cases, assist transfers, and triage the treatment board.
- Identify potential bottlenecks and propose solutions to remove barriers in medical operations.
- Confer with field leadership on client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments, and client experience exceptions.
- Address broken equipment issues, assist with inventory management, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Quality‑check medical records, home medication orders, regulatory documentation, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing patients.
Requirements
- Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) based on state requirements.
