Job summary

ACCESS San Fernando Valley is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Technician Shift Lead to provide front-line leadership in our Emergency Department. You will coordinate shift activities, supervise technical staff, and ensure high-quality patient care around the clock.

The role offers base pay in the $29–$41/hour range with lead and overnight differentials, plus sign-on and retention bonuses totaling up to $10,000. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401k, and CE support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ER experience in a lead/supervisor role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and coordinate technical staff.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shift staff to ensure work quality and timely patient care.
• Review patient and doctor issues for expedient resolution.
• Assign patients by case severity and staff capability.
• Update patient census forms and boards during shift.
• Maintain the Triage Board in a Certification Hospital.
• Ensure rounds are handled as patients transfer between staff.
• Manage resources for technical staff in the Emergency Department.
• Train staff in requested technical areas as directed.
• Serve as primary key-holder or Cubex resource as needed.

Veterinary Technician Shift Lead - Overnight

Total Bonus Opportunity for Registered Veterinary Technicians: $10,000!

This position is eligible for:

• $5,000 Sign-On Bonus
• $2,500 retention bonus at 12 months
• $2,500 retention bonus at 24 months Subject to eligibility and bonus agreement terms.

Compensation: $29/hr - $41/hr + $2/hr shift lead differential, $3/hr overnight differential, and $2/hr weekend differential

Job Purpose

• Provide primary point of contact through which all technical questions, comments,
  concerns, and issues can be handled
• Decrease the time spent by doctors and technical staff replicating responsibilities or missing duties by providing oversight for all technical employees in the moment

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the individuals working on any given shift to ensure their work product is
  excellent
• Review any patient / doctor issues that come up in the moment to allow for expedient
  and satisfactory resolution
• Assign patients to the appropriate group based upon case severity and knowledge of
  technical skill level of group technical employees
• Updating full patient census forms and patient board regularly during shift
• Updating Triage Board as necessary in a Triage-Center-In-Certification-Process Hospital
• Ensure rounds are being appropriately handled as patients are transferred from one
  person to the next
• Acts as primary person for resource management of technical staff within the Emergency
  Department
• As assigned by the Technician Manager, trains staff in any technical areas requested
• Responsible for being primary key-holder OR Cubex resource as needed

• Minimum of 2 years of ER experience in a lead/supervisor role
