Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Overnight team. This role offers a generous sign-on bonus for qualified candidates and a pay range of $25.00-$49.00 per hour plus competitive shift differentials.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography, monitor vital signs, and support clients with compassion.

Qualifications

• Experienced Veterinary Technician for Emergency Overnight team.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Proficient in phlebotomy, IV access and critical patient monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Monitor vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications appropriately.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters as needed.
• Mentor and train co-workers; provide empathetic client communication.
• Perform additional relevant responsibilities.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Overnight team!

Pay:

$25.00 - $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We Offer Competitive Shift Differential Pay For Eligible Hours Worked For Nights And Weekends. Shift Differentials Are Based On a 4-hour Minimum. For Example

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50/hr. Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
• Perform additional relevant job responsibilities.
