Job summary

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician II for our brand-new Urgent Care Clinic at the Papago Park Campus. Work four 9-hour shifts delivering lifesaving care for animals in need.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians, patient monitoring, and maintaining meticulous records. Excellent communication with owners and a calm, professional demeanor are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • CVT or CVMP certification is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience, preferably some ER experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills.
  • Able to function in a fast-paced environment with a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in all aspects of veterinary medicine including vitals, drugs, anesthesia, wound care, radiology, lab procedures, etc.
  • Responsible for filling, processing and dispensing controlled drugs from Cubex.
  • Stay current in emergency drugs and protocols knowledge.
  • Able to communicate veterinary concepts to clients.
  • Maintain all records in clinic management software.
  • Provide an excellent, compassionate client experience with clear home-care directions.

A Day in the Life:

The Urgent Care veterinary technician's primary goal is to assist the veterinarians in providing compassionate care of every animal that enters the clinic. Technicians are a key part of our mission to ensure that pet owners receive quality care and resources for their pets while having an excellent experience every time. Strong communication abilities, compassion to help owners and pets in need and excellent customer service skills are a must.

Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
