Veterinary Technician II - Urgent Care

A Day in the Life:

The Urgent Care veterinary technician's primary goal is to assist the veterinarians in providing compassionate care of every animal that enters the clinic. Technicians are a key part of our mission to ensure that pet owners receive quality care and resources for their pets while having an excellent experience every time. Strong communication abilities, compassion to help owners and pets in need and excellent customer service skills are a must.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CVT or CVMP certification is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience, preferably some ER experience.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of veterinary medicine including, but not limited to, collecting vitals, calculating and administering drugs, anesthesia administration and monitoring, wound care, radiology, lab procedures, etc.
  • Responsible for filling, processing and dispensing controlled drugs from Cubex.
  • Stay current in knowledge of emergency drugs and protocols.
  • Know veterinary medical concepts and be able to communicate such information to clients.
  • Maintain all records and documentation in our clinic management software.
  • Offer an excellent experience every time to our customers. Offer compassionate communication and clear home-care directions for their pets.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
