Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Fort Lauderdale is hiring an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician for our busy department. You will be responsible for anesthesia induction and monitoring, triage of emergencies, radiography, and vital signs assessment, while providing compassionate client communication.

You will also mentor teammates and contribute to a fast-paced, high-quality care environment. Competitive hourly pay and night shift differentials are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician in emergency medicine preferred.
• Ability to triage and monitor critical patients.
• Comfort with anesthesia induction and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency department.

Pay: $20 - $40 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.
