Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers a pay band of $20.00 - $40.50 per hour, with eligibility for additional compensation for VTS credentialing and shift differentials for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experienced Veterinary Technician in Emergency and Critical Care.
• Current veterinary technician license or credential.
• Ability to work nights/weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia; monitor anesthesia equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and measure vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital signs and respond to changes.
• CPR and basic life support for critically ill patients.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience, licensure and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

• Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

• Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
