Job summary

Metropolitan Veterinary Associates is seeking a Veterinary Technician - General Practice in Hickory, NC. This full-time role at Hickory Veterinary Primary Care offers a Tue/Fri schedule and a $18/hour starting wage with a $2,000 retention bonus after one year.

You’ll assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, and client education, while maintaining patient records and supporting team collaboration. CVT/LVT/RVT licensure is preferred.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred
• Solid understanding of veterinary medical terminology, medications, and disease processes
• Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration
• Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to providing exceptional patient and client care

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians with routine general practice procedures: exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement
• Support with patient intake, client communication, and education on treatments
• Preparing patients for appointments, including reviewing and interpreting bloodwork, medical history, and diagnostics
• Administering and monitoring medications, ensuring safe and accurate patient care
• Communicating effectively and empathetically with clients during consultations, discharges, and follow-up updates
• Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting seamless case management
• Collaborating closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Supporting other hospital teams as needed once duties are complete

Veterinary Technician - General Practice

This is a full-time position with the following schedule:

Tues 8a-7p, Thurs 8a-7p, Fri 8a-5p and Saturday 8a-1p

Compensation

• Starting at $18.00/hour, commensurate with experience and licensure

What You’ll Do
