Job summary

Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital in Plymouth Meeting, PA seeks a Veterinary Technician for mid-shift in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. You’ll support doctors across ER, anesthesia, and surgery while ensuring high-quality patient care and client communication.

We offer a $5,000 sign-on and a $2,000 retention bonus after one year, with education reimbursement and a team-first culture focused on growth and compassion.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (credentialed or non-credentialed).
  • Proficiency in basic technical skills, triage, and client communication.
  • Comfort with ER, anesthesia, and surgical support.

Responsibilities

  • Support doctors and patients across ER, anesthesia, surgery and internal medicine.
  • Attend to inpatient/outpatient care, triage, diagnostics, treatments and discharges.
  • Monitor anesthesia, assist with emergencies and prepare/monitor surgical cases.
  • Maintain medical records, client communication, and inventory control.

Veterinary Technician - Emergency - Mid-Shift

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our doctors and patients across various services. Whether you're assisting in surgery, monitoring hospitalized pets, or guiding clients through aftercare, your day will be filled with opportunities to make a difference.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform and support inpatient and outpatient care, including triage, diagnostics, treatments, and discharges
  • Assist with emergency cases, anesthesia, and surgical preparation/monitoring
  • Manage labs, bloodwork, radiographs, and medication administration (IV, IM, SQ, oral)
  • Provide clear, compassionate client communication and education
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient logs (SOAPs)
  • Monitor hospitalized patients, collaborate on rounds, and support overnight emergencies (if applicable)
  • Participate in training and mentorship for new team members
  • Support your department’s organization, cleanliness, and inventory

You’ll be trained and encouraged to cross-train with different specialties (ER, anesthesia, surgery, internal medicine, and more), allowing you to broaden your skill set and explore different areas of interest.


Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position currently offering four 10-hour or three 12-hour evening swing shifts. Schedule options include:

Thursday-Saturday 2pm-2am

Compensation

  • $25-$26/hour, dependent upon experience and credentials
