Job summary

Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital in Plymouth Meeting, PA, is seeking a Veterinary Technician - General Practice to join our collaborative team. You will assist veterinarians with routine exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement while maintaining accurate records and delivering compassionate care.

The full-time position offers four 10-hour shifts with one weekend day per week, a starting pay of $18.00 per hour, and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred.
• Solid understanding of veterinary terminology, medications and disease processes.
• Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
• Ability to prioritize, stay organized and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with routine general practice procedures: exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement.
• Support with patient intake, client communication, and education on treatments.
• Review and interpret bloodwork, medical history, and diagnostics for appointments.
• Administer and monitor medications, ensuring safe and accurate patient care.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients during consultations and follow-ups.
• Maintain accurate patient records and support seamless case management.
• Collaborate closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care.

What You’ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician - General Practice at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital, you will be an essential part of our team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting veterinarians with routine general practice procedures: exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement
• Support with patient intake, client communication, and education on treatments
• Preparing patients for appointments, including reviewing and interpreting bloodwork, medical history, and diagnostics
• Administering and monitoring medications, ensuring safe and accurate patient care
• Communicating effectively and empathetically with clients during consultations, discharges, and follow-up updates
• Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting seamless case management
• Collaborating closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Supporting other hospital teams as needed once duties are complete

Anticipated Schedule
