Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks a Veterinary Technician to support Vetco Total Care hospital patients and deliver exceptional client care. You will assist veterinarians, document care in the EMR, and help maintain a high standard of patient welfare in a busy clinical setting.

You will work on-site with a collaborative team, handling routine to complex tasks, and contributing to ongoing staff training, with focus on safety and compassionate service for pets and families.

Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education completed.
• At least 1 year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals, and document visit in EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, dispense medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, update records, and manage accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and patient care, including injections and IV therapies.
• Participate in training of new staff and disseminate knowledge.
• Keep hospital environment neat and maintain maintenance schedule.
