SAGE Redwood City is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency team. This full-time role offers day, swing, and overnight shifts with a fast-paced hospital environment that emphasizes teamwork, advanced care, and compassionate nursing for urgent and life-threatening cases.

Ideal candidates hold a California RVT license, have 3+ years in emergency or critical care, and can monitor patients, assist in procedures, and communicate clearly with clients and the medical team.

Qualifications

• California RVT license is required.
• 3+ years emergency or critical care experience preferred, or 5+ years with advanced skills.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing, emergency medicine, and patient monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency patients and perform thorough initial assessments.
• Monitor vital signs (ECG, BP, SpO2, temperature) and overall condition.
• Administer medications and emergency treatments as directed.
• Place IV catheters and assist with emergency procedures.
• Perform laboratory diagnostics and monitor response to treatment.
• Assist with emergency surgeries and life-saving interventions.
• Provide skilled nursing care and maintain patient comfort during hospitalization.
• Communicate updates and treatment plans with clients and medical team.
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment to high standards.
• Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and staff to deliver care.
• Contribute to a positive hospital culture focused on outcomes.

$32.00–$40.00/hour (based on experience) + $5.50/hour shift differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,000 (Overnight) | Up to $5,000 (Swing)

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:

• Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to deliver exceptional emergency care.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture focused on outstanding patient outcomes.

What You Bring

• Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three or more years of emergency or critical care experience preferred, or five or more years of veterinary experience with advanced technical skills.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing, emergency medicine, and patient monitoring.
• Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages, fluid rates, and treatment plans.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced emergency environment.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
