Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health’s Redwood City Emergency team seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced specialty hospital. You’ll triage, monitor, and treat critical patients, administer medications, assist with emergency surgeries, and provide compassionate nursing care under board-certified specialists.

Required is a California RVT license with 3+ years in emergency/critical care or equivalent experience, strong nursing knowledge, and excellent teamwork and client communication

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three+ years emergency/critical care preferred.
  • Strong nursing, monitoring, and patient care knowledge.
  • Ability to calculate meds and fluid rates accurately.
  • Excellent teamwork and client service skills.

  • Place IV catheters and assist with procedures.

Veterinary Technician – Emergency

$32.00–$40.00/hour (based on experience) + $5.50/hour shift differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM

Full-Time | Day, Swing & Overnight Shifts Available | 4/10 or 3/12 Schedules | One Weekend Shift Required
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,000 (Overnight) | Up to $5,000 (Swing)

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will
  • Triage emergency patients and perform thorough initial assessments.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, including ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), temperature, and overall condition.
  • Administer medications and emergency treatments as directed by veterinarians.
  • Place intravenous catheters and assist with emergency procedures.
  • Perform laboratory diagnostics and monitor patient response to treatment.
  • Assist with emergency surgeries and other life‑saving interventions.
  • Provide skilled nursing care while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout hospitalization.
  • Communicate patient updates and treatment plans with clients and the medical team.
  • Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and patient care standards.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to deliver exceptional emergency care.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture focused on outstanding patient outcomes.
What You Bring
  • Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of emergency or critical care experience preferred, or five or more years of veterinary experience with advanced technical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing, emergency medicine, and patient monitoring.
  • Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages, fluid rates, and treatment plans.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient in a fast‑paced emergency environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, high‑quality patient care.

Applicants with significant relevant veterinary experience may also be considered.
