Job summary

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of York is seeking Relief Veterinary Technicians to join our Emergency team in York, PA. This as-needed role supports urgent care, triage, stabilizing treatments, and critical patient monitoring as part of Thrive Pet Healthcare.

You will provide end-to-end care, assist doctors, manage lab diagnostics, admit, monitor and discharge patients, and grow through Thrive’s learning programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical veterinary experience as a Veterinary Technician (direct patient care).
  • CVT/RVT/LVT (active and current) preferred.
  • Emergency experience strongly preferred.
  • Has strong anesthesia skills (blood pressure, ECG, SpO2, ETC02 monitoring).
  • Possesses a positive work attitude and is self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end care for critical and emergent patients on an as-needed relief basis.
  • Triage, stabilize, and assist doctors with treatments and diagnostics.
  • Assist with admitting, monitoring, and discharging patients.

Job description

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of York is looking for Relief (as-needed) Veterinary Technicians to join our Emergency team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community in York, PA.

About You

You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for critical and emergent patients on an as-needed, relief basis. Your life-changing work will range from hands‑on emergency triage, stabilizing treatments, and laboratory diagnostics to essential support services including admitting, monitoring and discharging patients.

Your Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical veterinary experience as a Veterinary Technician (direct patient care)
  • CVT/RVT/LVT (active and current) preferred
  • Superior/advanced technical skills
  • Emergency experience strongly preferred
  • Has strong anesthesia skills (Able to obtain Blood pressure, ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care)
  • Possesses a positive work attitude
  • Self‑motivated
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
