Job summary

ACCESS LA in Culver City, CA is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in a fast-paced, 24-hour hospital environment. You will assist with surgeries, educate clients, and help maintain medical records while ensuring excellent patient care.

Shifts available include Day, Swing, and Overnight. Compensation includes bonus opportunities for qualified staff and a dynamic growth path within Thrive Pet Healthcare locations.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with credentialed veterinary technicians guidelines.
• Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
• Maintain relevant medical records with practice systems and obtain health history from clients.
• Use safe restraining techniques and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
• Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Located in Culver City, ACCESS LA is a referral hospital with 24hour Emergency services, where our technicians encounter all sort of cases when working closely with some of the most qualified doctors in the country. Add that we have numerous specialty departments and it’s possible a tech’s day could involve a Macaw with a broken beak, time in one of our many advanced operating rooms, watching our Orthopedic Surgeons replace a dog’s elbow, or operating an MRI. It’s a long list of unique experiences best suited to those who absolutely love caring for sick or injured animals in a high-paced, renowned animal hospital.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• 3 years of Veterinary Assistant or Registered Technician experience

Compensation

• Non Credentialed Assistants $21/hr - $36/hr
• Licensed Technicians -$26/hr - $42/hr
• VTS - $43/hr - $45/hr
• Pay to be determined by experience/skills

Shift differentials

• Weekend shift - $2/hr
• Swing shift - $2/hr
• Overnight shift - $3/hr
