Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare in Medford, MA, is hiring a Veterinary Technician. This full-time role involves assisting veterinarians, supporting surgeries, monitoring patients, collecting samples, and educating clients. A 30–40 hour work week includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of clinical experience, and an AVMA-accredited degree is preferred. Lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking are required.

Qualifications

• Veterinary technician licensure preferred, not required.
• 1-2 years of clinical experience.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or equivalent education, training and experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, squatting, reach, standing, and walking throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care and educate clients.
• Help maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures per state Veterinary Practice Act.
• Monitor and assess patient status.
• Collect blood and other samples for testing.
• Place catheters and communicate health concerns to clients.
• Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems.
• Obtain health history and medical charts from clients.
• Use safe restraining techniques and keep treatment areas clean.
• Mentor fellow team members.
