Job summary

Lakefield Veterinary Group seeks a Veterinary Assistant/Technician to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring safe, comfortable visits for pets and their owners. You will prep rooms, obtain histories, and assist with procedures under veterinary direction.

You will monitor vital signs, educate clients, and help maintain records while delivering compassionate, efficient care in a busy clinic environment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant or technician program preferred or CVT.
3-5 years experience in veterinary medicine, preferred ER or urgent care experience.
Experience with pet health records and client education is a plus.

Responsibilities

Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, medical equipment, and surgery between each appointment.
Obtain initial patient information, medical histories, vaccination records, and reason for visit; document and update records.
Calm, soothe, comfort, and restrain pets before, during, and after procedures.
Take notes on examination results and update records as directed by veterinarians.
Educate owners on pet care, conditions, and post-procedure instructions.
Monitor pets’ physical status and vital signs after surgery.
Monitor hospitalized and boarded pets; record vitals.
Clean and disinfect cages, pens, runs, and boarding areas.
Feed, water, bathe, and exercise pets during their visit.
Answer general client questions.
Perform procedures that do not require Veterinarian or Technician assistance.
Examine pets with basic health checks and treat under direction of Veterinarian.
Administer medications, run routine labs, fill prescriptions, and educate clients on meds.
Provide professional, efficient, quality care and exceptional service to clients while maintaining productivity.
Support a collaborative, team-based practice environment.
Comply with practice policies and standards of care.
Perform other duties as requested.
