Job summary

Lakefield Veterinary Group is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring the safety of pets and clients while maintaining the continuity of quality care in Tacoma, WA.

The role includes room preparation, handling and comforting pets, client education, chart updates, and collaboration with a caring team focused on Respect, Learning, and WOW Service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate of NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred.
• One year of experience in a pet care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, medical equipment, and surgery between each appointment.
• Obtain patient information, medical histories, vaccination records and visit reason; document and update records.
• Calm, soothe, comfort, and restrain pets before, during and after procedures.
• Provide owners education and resources on pet care as directed by veterinarians.
• Monitor vital signs post-surgery and assist with routine health checks.
• Support efficient, compassionate care and maintain clean, organized work areas.
