Job summary

CityVet Career Center in Austin, TX, is seeking a Veterinary Technician or Technician Assistant with at least 1 year of experience to join our veterinary team. You will support veterinarians, prep patients for surgery, assist with samples, tests, and medications, and help ensure excellent client communication and patient care.

We value compassionate, team-oriented professionals who can lift up to 50 lbs, handle animal restraint safely, and thrive in a busy clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age at hire.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Ability to properly and safely restrain animals.
• Lift 50 lbs to waist height.
• Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians by prep patients for surgery, administer anesthesia, take x-rays, and gather lab samples.
• Obtain samples such as stool, blood, and other samples for testing.
• Test the samples gathered and help interpret the results.
• Administer medications and dosages as prescribed by the DVM.
• Communicate with clients and provide proper post-visit care instructions.
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team when needed.
