Job summary

ASPCA’s Community Medicine team is seeking a licensed Veterinary Technician to join our on-site Community Veterinary Clinic in Queens. You will care for cats and dogs, assist with spay/neuter surgeries, administer medications, and help ensure high-quality preventive care for underserved communities.

This role requires NYS veterinary technician license, strong animal handling, and ability to work in a fast-paced clinic. English required; bilingual Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have current New York State Veterinary Technician License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
• Excellent animal handling skills (cats, dogs).
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience using a computer and navigating software applications.
• Ability to lift and carry 40+ pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Care for 35-40 cats and dogs per day in spay/neuter surgery.
• Administer injections including anesthetics, pain medications, vaccinations and other medications.
• Intubate animals and place IV catheters and administer fluids as needed.
• Monitor vital signs of sedated patients and ensure equipment is functional.
• Enter medical information into digital databases and collaborate with team.
• Provide a safe environment and support for animals, staff and clients.
