Job summary

Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota is seeking a Surgery Technician Assistant to support surgeons and veterinary teams throughout the day. You will assist with patient handling, restraint, and basic care, while maintaining a clean, organized, and surgery-ready environment.

You will manage client communications, document interactions in medical records, and assist with prescriptions and pharmacy coordination.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of client service experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Comfort with computers and data entry (EMR, Outlook, etc.).
• Basic animal handling and husbandry knowledge.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs and be on your feet throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Support surgical technicians and veterinarians throughout the day.
• Assist with patient handling, restraint, and basic care.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and surgery-ready environment.
• Field phone calls and assist with client communication and updates.
• Document client interactions accurately in medical records.
• Assist with prescriptions and coordination with pharmacies.
• Provide compassionate support to clients, including during euthanasia cases.
• Jump in wherever needed to keep the department running smoothly.
