Job summary

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care is seeking a Neurology Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced specialty team in Portland, ME. You will work alongside technicians and board-certified neurologists in advanced diagnostics and compassionate patient care.

The role involves assisting with exams, anesthesia monitoring, and client education, with a schedule of full-time weekday shifts and a supportive, collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum veterinary assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with neurological exams and procedures.
• Support MRI, CT, radiology, neurosurgery, and advanced diagnostics.
• Monitor anesthesia and administer treatments.
• Educate and support clients throughout their pet’s care journey.
• Maintain detailed medical records.
• Collaborate with specialists across multiple departments.
• Deliver exceptional patient care with skill, empathy, and attention to detail.

Schedule

• Full-time | Four 10-hour weekday shifts
• Example schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 7:30 AM-6:00 PM
• Some holidays required

What You’ll Do

As a Neurology Assistant you’ll work alongside our Veterinary Technicians and Board-Certified Neurologists to provide advanced, compassionate care for patients with complex neurological conditions.

• Specialty or neurology experience preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
• Experience with EzyVet or SmartFlow is a plus
