Job summary

Forever Vets Animal Hospital of Hunters Creek is hiring a Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team in Hunters Creek, FL. We offer growth opportunities, a Whole Person Approach, and a revenue sharing program for eligible team members.

Responsibilities include patient history, vital signs, medication administration, catheter placement, and assisting veterinarians during exams and anesthesia. Training is available for the right candidate; full-time benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1–2 years related experience or training, or equivalent.
• RVTs in FL preferred, but not required; training available for right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Check patient medical records and enter data.
• Take medical histories and vital signs.
• Maintain client education materials.
• Prepare and log prescription refills; coordinate with pharmacies.
• Monitor hospital patients and log vital signs.
• Administer medications as needed.
• Place catheters and draw blood.
• Assist doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files.
• Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.*
• Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.*
• Performs departmental housekeeping duties.*
• Admits and discharges patients.*
• Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.*
• Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.*
• Administering medications to patients as needed.*
• Placing catheters and performing blood draws.*
• Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.*
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in FL are preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
