Job summary

CareVet At Skylark, Ocala, FL, seeks a Veterinary Technician/Assistant. The role supports patient care, records, histories, vital signs, and discharge.

Training is available and team members participate in revenue sharing while receiving strong medical, vision, and dental benefits. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, administering medications, catheter placement, and assisting veterinarians during exams and anesthesia.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 1-2 years related experience or training.
  • Registered Veterinary Technicians in Florida preferred, not required; training available.
  • Must be able to multi-task and support clinical duties.

Responsibilities

  • Check patient medical records and enter data.
  • Take medical histories and vital signs.
  • Maintain client educational materials.
  • Admit and discharge patients.
  • Process and log prescription refills; coordinate with pharmacies.
  • Monitor hospital patients and log vital signs.
  • Administer medications as needed.
  • Place catheters and perform blood draws.
  • Restrain and assist doctor during exams and anesthesia.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Veterinary Technician / Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files.
  • Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.*
  • Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.*
  • Admits and discharges patients.*
  • Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.*
  • Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.*
  • Administering medications to patients as needed.*
  • Placing catheters and performing blood draws.*
  • Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.*
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technicians in Florida are preferred, not necessarily required. We are open and willing to train the right candidate.
