Job summary

Forever Vets Animal Hospital Bartram Market in St. Johns, FL is seeking a Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team. You will support patient care, record histories, assist during exams and procedures, and help manage medications and patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent.
• Florida Registered Veterinary Technicians preferred, not required; willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Check patient medical records and enter histories.
• Take medical histories and vital signs.
• Maintain client educational materials.
• Admit and discharge patients.
• Process and log prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.
• Monitor hospital patients and log vital signs.
• Administer medications as needed.
• Place catheters and perform blood draws.
• Restrain and assist doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Checks patient medical records for past histories, enters in computer and files.
• Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients.
• Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.
• Performs departmental housekeeping duties.
• Admits and discharges patients.
• Takes, processes and logs prescription refills in-house, call out pharmacy and online pharmacy.
• Monitoring hospital patients and logging vital signs.
• Administering medications to patients as needed.
• Placing catheters and performing blood draws.
• Restraining and assisting the doctor during exams, treatments, and anesthesia procedures.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
