Job summary

Suburban Veterinary Clinic is seeking a friendly and experienced Veterinary Assistant/Technician for a part-time role. You will support veterinarians with exams, treatments, and client communication, using hands-on veterinary skills daily.

Qualifications

  • Must have hands-on veterinary experience and be ready to jump in.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Registration as a Veterinary Technician is welcomed but not required.
  • Part-time availability with rotating Saturdays.
  • Confidence handling dogs and cats safely and compassionately.
  • Excellent client-service and communication skills.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
  • Team-first mindset and willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during appointments and procedures.
  • Obtain patient histories and vital signs.
  • Handle canine and feline patients safely and compassionately.
  • Perform blood draws and collect diagnostic samples as trained.
  • Assist with lab testing, sample prep, and medication preparation.
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly with clients about their pets' care.
  • Support daily workflow and team collaboration.

What our Veterinary Assistants/Technicians Do

  • Assist veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians during patient appointments, treatments, and procedures
  • Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and other relevant information
  • Provide safe, compassionate handling and restraint for canine and feline patients
  • Perform blood draws and collect diagnostic samples based on experience and training
  • Assist with laboratory testing and sample preparation
  • Prepare medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Provide attentive patient care and monitoring
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about their pets' care
  • Assist with client education and reinforce veterinarian recommendations
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records
  • Clean, organize, stock, and maintain exam and treatment areas
  • Collaborate with teammates to maintain an efficient daily workflow
  • Jump in wherever needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers
  • Provide plenty of compassion and attention to our four‑legged patients
