Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection.
• Run in‑house laboratory testing like CBC and urinalysis.
• Support surgical and dental procedures.
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during procedures.
• Provide post‑operative care and monitor recovery of patients.

Elk Creek Animal Hospital of Hikes Point is hiring a Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician

• Role: LVT, CVT, RVT
• Status: Full-time
• Salary: Negotiable and based on experience and licensure
• Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30am-5:30pm Closed Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

Some of the job duties involved in this opportunity include:

• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
• Run in‑house laboratory testing (CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, fecals, etc.)
• Support surgical and dental procedures (prep, monitoring, recovery, instrument care)
• Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during procedures
• Provide post‑operative care and monitor recovery of patients
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and equipment
• Educate and communicate with clients on patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care
• Accurately document patient care and treatments in the medical record
• Collaborate with the team to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture

Our ideal candidate has experience in the following areas:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent education/training
• Proficient in animal handling, and animal restraint techniques
• Experience with animal catheterization and administering medications
• Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record‑keeping
