Job description

Overview

Animal Care and Wellness Center is hiring a Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant for a full-time position. Schedule: four weekdays; Saturdays 8 am - 12:30 pm. Salary: negotiable based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment procedures.
  • Performing technical skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, radiographs, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and dental cleanings (based on licensure and experience).
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed.
  • Monitoring hospitalized and post-operative patients.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
  • Educating clients on treatment plans, medications, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe treatment and surgical area.
  • Assisting with inventory and supply management as needed.
Qualifications
  • Current Veterinary Technician license (where applicable) or prior hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Strong technical ability: venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, laboratory procedures, and dentistry (as appropriate).
  • Clinical confidence to assist in surgery and manage hospitalized cases.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to work with veterinarians and staff.
  • Compassionate patient care and gentle handling.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and accountability.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule including some evenings and weekends.
