Job summary

Essex Veterinary Clinic, part of Pieper Veterinary, is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team in Essex, CT. You will provide high-quality nursing care, assist with wellness visits, dentistry, surgery, and anesthesia, and educate clients as part of a collaborative team.

We value experience, a CVT credential, and ongoing professional development. This role includes rotating Saturdays and opportunities for growth within the Pieper Veterinary network.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a busy veterinary hospital with a focus on nursing care.
• Strong technical veterinary technician skills including phlebotomy and anesthesia.
• Knowledge of veterinary instruments, equipment, and patient care procedures.
• Understanding of sterilization techniques and surgical support responsibilities.
• Ability to educate clients and provide exceptional customer service.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
• Availability to work the posted schedule, including rotating Saturdays.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care during examinations, surgeries, and wellness visits.
• Support wellness visits, dentistry, surgery, anesthesia, and patient monitoring.
• Educate clients and assist with client education initiatives.
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure exceptional patient care.

Pay: $21.00-$30.00/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM-6:00 PM | Rotating Saturdays, 7:30 AM-2:00 PM
Incentives: Additional compensation available for CVT credentialed technicians

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE | NON-NEGOTIABLE

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a busy veterinary hospital with a focus on nursing care

• Knowledge of veterinary instruments, equipment, and patient care procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS | NOT A DEAL BREAKER

• Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and dental cleanings
• Experience with CPR protocols
• Experience using EzyVet
• Advanced surgery support experience
• Strong interest in continued professional development and mentorship opportunities
