Job summary

Pieper Veterinary in Middletown, CT is seeking a Veterinary Technician for our emergency care team. This full-time night shift (Wed–Sat, 8pm–6am) offers experience in a fast-paced hospital with support for CE and career growth.

Starting pay ranges from $21.00 to $30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus a benefits package including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, and PTO. Applicants should be 18+, with strong teamwork and patient-care skills.

Qualifications

• Associates in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
• CVT license is a plus.
• Experience with anesthesia and monitoring.
• Knowledge of scheduling, patient intake, labs, and supplies.
• Familiarity with instrument care and sterilization.
• Strong client communication and relationship skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care in emergency/critical care environment.

About You:

We believe veterinary medicine is truly a team sport, and we are looking for a technician who shares that mindset. Clear, effective communication is essential in a busy clinical environment, and the ideal candidate can confidently multitask while consistently delivering high-quality patient care.

We are seeking a technician who is already comfortable with patient restraint, triage, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia. Experience with CPR, EzyVet, and SmartFlow is a plus, but not required. Collaboration is highly valued, and we encourage all team members to speak up—your insights matter and can truly make a difference for our patients and clients.

Anticipated Schedule:
This is a full-time position:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - 8pm-6am
Holidays are required.

Compensation:
Starting at $21.00-$30.00/hour dependent upon experience.

Requirements:

• Associates in Veterinary Technology is a plus.
• CVT license is a plus.
• Knowledge with Anesthesia and monitoring.
• Knowledge of the procedures used for scheduling patients, receiving, treating, ordering medical supplies, and requesting laboratory tests.
• Knowledge of the use, care, and storage of veterinary instruments, materials, and equipment.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques to sterilize various instruments and materials.
• Knowledge of the instruments, materials, and standardized procedures used in the full variety of treatments to make preparations and provide “tableside” assistance.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
• Must be 18 years or older to apply.
