Job summary

Fresh Pond Animal Hospital in Belmont, MA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our four-doctor small animal practice. This full-time role offers $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience, with Monday–Friday schedule and alternating Saturdays, in a four-doctor small animal practice with 30+ years of service.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and procedures
  • Obtain patient histories and maintain medical records
  • Prepare examination rooms, instruments, and equipment
  • Safely restrain patients during examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Monitor anesthesia, patient vital signs, and recovery
  • Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing
  • Provide compassionate nursing care for recovering patients
  • Educate clients regarding medications, treatment plans, and preventive care
  • Maintain a clean, organized treatment area
  • Collaborate with teammates to support daily hospital operations
