Job summary

Herndon Animal Medical Center in Herndon, VA is seeking a Veterinary Technician to work alongside veterinarians and licensed staff. The position is available as full-time or part-time with hourly pay commensurate with experience.

You will perform blood draws, in-house lab work, vaccinations, radiographs, and assist with surgeries while providing compassionate care to pets and guidance to their families.

Qualifications

• Veterinary experience is a plus; motivated applicants are encouraged to apply.
• Comfort with venipuncture, lab work and clinical tasks.
• Ability to safely handle dogs and cats with compassion.
• Clear communication with clients and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors and LVTs during exams and procedures.
• Restrain dogs and cats calmly and safely.
• Draw blood, collect samples and run in-house labs.
• Prepare samples for outside labs to ensure accurate results.
• Administer vaccines, meds, and treatments under supervision.
• Assist with surgical prep and anesthesia monitoring.
• Take radiographs and assist with diagnostics.
• Record medical notes and enter charges accurately.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Support kennel and general facility upkeep.

Veterinary Technician — Herndon Animal Medical Center, Herndon, VA — Full-time / Part Time | $19-$24/hr.

What You'll Be Doing

• Right there next to our doctors and LVTs during exams, treatments, and procedures, not just watching from the doorway.
• Handling and restraining dogs and cats with a calm, confident touch.
• Drawing blood, collecting samples, and running in-house labs.
• Prepping samples for outside reference labs so results come back right the first time.
• Giving vaccines, meds, and treatments under vet supervision.
• Helping with surgical prep, keeping an eye on patients under anesthesia, and easing them through recovery.
• Taking radiographs and pitching in on other diagnostics.
• Talking to clients — real conversations about their pet's care, what to do at home, and what happens next.
• Keeping medical records accurate and entering charges.
• Ensuring exam rooms and treatment areas are clean, stocked, and ready to go.
• Helping out with kennel and general facility upkeep.
