Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society in Orem, UT is seeking a Veterinary Program Manager to oversee daily operations and growth of our veterinary programs, advancing the no-kill mission.

You will lead teams of staff and volunteers, manage budgets, ensure high-quality care, and collaborate with DVMs to maintain medical protocols. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and a commitment to animal welfare in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams or managing people.
• Minimum of one year working or volunteering in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or hospital.
• Excellent communications skills: public speaking and advocacy.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
• Customer-centric, adoption-focused approach.
• Ability to work with animals and understand medical/behavioral traits.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with shelter software.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate kindness and inclusivity in daily actions and leadership.
• Lead and manage teams to promote lifesaving objectives; oversee veterinary care teams.
• Provide support, training, mentoring, and performance feedback; recruit and hire.
• Prepare and manage the department's budget, forecasting, and metrics.
• Collaborate across operations to achieve lifesaving goals.
• Maintain a safe workplace and ensure policy compliance.
• Manage inventory and medical supply accounts.
• Build relationships with coalition partners and other departments.
