Job summary

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota is seeking a Veterinary Intake Coordinator for our 24/7 emergency hospital in Oakdale, MN. You will evaluate incoming emergencies, obtain vital signs, coordinate patient flow, and relay updates between clients and the medical team.

The role emphasizes medical triage, accurate charting, and teamwork in a fast-paced setting. Full-time, on-site positions with day and overnight shifts are available.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary Assistant, Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or equivalent veterinary medical experience.
  • Ability to accurately obtain patient vital signs.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Confidence in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Experience using electronic medical records and computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain presenting and recheck vital signs on emergency patients
  • Identify abnormal findings and communicate concerns to the medical team
  • Document patient information accurately in the medical record
  • Help prioritize incoming patients and support the triage process
  • Coordinate patient movement throughout the hospital
  • Provide timely updates and communication between clients and the medical team
  • Monitor wait times and help maintain patient flow
  • Assist with light Veterinary Assistant duties when intake allows
  • Occasionally assist with front desk tasks when care needs are met

Day & Overnight Opportunities | Emergency Veterinary Medicine

Do you thrive in the fast pace of emergency medicine but love interacting with clients just as much as patients? Are you the person who can calmly assess a patient, gather critical information, and keep everything moving when the lobby is full?

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC) is looking for Veterinary Intake Coordinators to become the medical heartbeat of our Emergency Service. This is not a traditional front desk position. Instead, you'll be the first medically trained team member to evaluate incoming emergency patients, obtain vital signs, coordinate patient flow, and help ensure every pet receives timely care.

We currently have Day and Overnight full-time opportunities available.

What You'll Do
  • Obtain presenting and recheck vital signs on emergency patients

Emergency or specialty veterinary experience is a plus, but not required.

This is a full-time, on-site position in our 24/7 emergency hospital.
