Job summary

Virginia Tech's Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Large Animal Clinic, seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide basic and intensive nursing care to all admitted patients. You will support clinical faculty, residents, interns, and senior students with animal handling and the use of diagnostic equipment.

This on-site role may include on-call shifts, weekends and holidays. You must be able to move up to 75 pounds and work long periods in varied positions.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively in a team.
• Able to understand, comprehend and follow directions in the workplace.
• Make sound emergency decisions concerning health and safety of humans and animals.
• Proficiency in operating medical equipment and handling large animals.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and intensive nursing care to all patients in the Large Animal Clinic.
• Assist clinical faculty, residents, interns, and senior students with patient care and equipment use.
• On-call for varying shifts, including weekends and holidays; assist in other areas as directed.
