Job summary

Avets is seeking a Facility Assistant to maintain building systems, assist with equipment upkeep, and coordinate with IT and service vendors in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment.

You will support HVAC, plumbing, lighting, safety compliance, and inventory, with on-site duties and occasional emergency on-call responsibilities. The role requires practical hands-on skills and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities, operations, or technical support (ideally in healthcare, vet, or lab).
• Basic knowledge of IT systems and tools.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle urgent issues.
• Team player with clear and professional communication.
• Physically able to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, and move equipment.
• Familiarity with OSHA/AAHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Support daily upkeep of the hospital building (HVAC, plumbing, lighting).
• Perform basic repair jobs around the hospital.
• Serve as a backup point of contact for service vendors when the Facility Manager is unavailable.
• Ensure the hospital meets safety standards (OSHA, fire codes).
• Share on-call duties for emergencies (equipment failures, fire, evacuation).
• Provide technology and admin support by submitting tickets to our corporate IT team for basic troubleshooting of computers, printers, and phones.
