Animal Hospital of Avon, located in Avon, Indiana, seeks an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team. The role involves restraining pets, triage, collecting and analyzing lab samples, diagnostic imaging, and nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases.

• Minimum 1 year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to properly restrain pets.
• Proficiency in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing lab tests and radiographs; anesthesia monitoring a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to grow skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
