National Veterinary Associates is offering externships at their Vinton location for veterinary students. Participants will gain hands-on experience in various skills such as patient examination, diagnostics, and surgical assistance under supervision. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to enhance their veterinary skills in a supportive environment.
We are a group of sister hospitals offering a variety of skill sets and environments for experience. Our Vinton location hosts specialists in advanced ultrasound, dentistry, nutrition, and more, providing opportunities to observe higher-level procedures.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians at Vinton Veterinary Hospital to gain hands-on experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management. They will also have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
