Join a leading global pet care organization as a veterinary extern at National Veterinary Associates. This role offers hands-on clinical experience, working alongside experienced veterinarians to enhance your skills in patient care while contributing to exceptional service in a supportive environment. Opportunities for professional development and mentorship await you during this enriching externship.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of a veterinary practice and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing patient medical care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Bradford Park Veterinary Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
