National Veterinary Associates offers veterinary students a unique externship experience at its hospitals, allowing hands-on clinical practice while working alongside supportive professionals. This externship fosters the development of essential veterinary skills and communication abilities in a collaborative environment dedicated to animal care.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Bogey Hills Animal Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
